#10 The Producers (1967)

im not really a film watcher so this will be a short one. shockingly enjoyable oldschool hollywood comedy about a broadway producer deciding to embezzle huge sums of money by throwing a flop play. it has a frantic comedic energy thats always enjoyable to watch and most of the jokes land pretty well apart from the segment where they were being homophobic to the director and his secretary but thats kind of par for the course for every era. he was killing in the dress at least so you know someone on the team was a real one.

its always fascinating to see just how willing people were to make fun of hitler and the third reich in an era when youd think the war wounds would still be pretty fresh, but i guess americans never really took european happenings that seriously in the first place lol. i never know what opinion to have about the portrayal of facist regimes in media but i guess its better to make fun of them than to exaggerate the horrors to such an extent that people will excuse the behavior of modern facists because theyre evil in the boring way normal humans are evil instead of being an jrpg supervillain evil. much to think about

also those men in the movie were kind of gay im shocked

well i was gonna put more images in here but my internet is too bad to upload them online and i want to post this and go to bed so. whatever. review over
